Welcome to the Home of the EASL Framework for Teaching and Learning and EASE Software
We believe in building a classroom environment in which students and teachers are focused on teaching and learning. In our experience, there are 4 keys to this approach:
- Clear outcomes: Student learning is focused on clear academic outcomes;
- Expectation of Success: All students are expected to demonstrate proficiency
- Growth: Expectations for achievement increase as students mature.
- Learning is dynamic: Time is not an obstacle to success, so assessment recognizes that students learn at different rates.
These 4 key features are combined through 2 dimensions:
- EASL (Equity and Achievement for Standards-based Learning--a framework for learning, to support teachers, through professional development, to adopt this new paradigm of outcomes-based classroom practice; and
-
EASE, the web-based, real-time, data-driven tool for assessment. EASE supports teachers in tracking student learning of the stated outcomes, and provides students a clear picture of their own achievement.
This site is aimed at providing educators, teachers, students, and families materials to help understand and implement this approach. You are invited to participate in building a community with these shared goals. Users can log in to add comments, upload materials, and connect with others who are exploring this direction.
EASE was launched at the Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago. The EASE software has been developed by Database Designs Associates, based in Boston and Chicago.
High/Scope Indonesia has adopted EASE! Alfonso Tapia, National Board Certified high school Spanish teacher from YWLCS, spent a very busy week training 60 teachers and instructional leaders at the High/Scope high school; here he is with some of the High/Scope staff.
